  • Its sad that any new gamer would say the graphics suck. but i think its a classic. the graphics were amazing back in the 90s and still are to me.

  • Classic. I remember when this first came out, it was so different from any game I played before. Not since Resident Evil have I been so intrigued with a game's plot and storyline, as well as its sequels.

  • MGS1 is THE game !!! superb storytelling, outstanding gameplay, impressive graphic (at the current time of course). and i really like all the easter egg the developer made throughout the game, (like getting pissed by a dog while you're in a cardbox :D lol)

    then it hopped over to the MSX2 with Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

    Then went to the PSX with MGS

    and yall should know the rest.

  • This game rocks. For a PS1 game it broke the barrier. right up there in the top 3 games of its era,along with vagrant story and FFVII. It has an excellent storyline, great graphics and sweet controls. everything it did it did right. and though it isn't the starter it shot metal gear onto the stage. It is a great game and if u know what true gaming is then u must have this in ur collection. So download it u'll love it.

  • Can't seem to get past the fight with ocelot during the first disc because after you beat him the game freezes while you are talking to Kenneth Baker. Any suggestions?

  • Some people may think that the graphics suck, but 1) dont forget this was back in the 90's and 2) it just adds to the charm of the game. To be honest I didnt care less about them it was still the best game i ever played.

  • i have this game( but the 2 disc disapeard) , MGS 2, MGS 3, MGS 4
    they all show great storyline, i download from playstation store the database so i can ssee all the story XD

    you can defeat Mantis by destroying the stones statues too

  • BEST GAME SERIES EVER!!!!!
    This is the only game in the series that I never beat(didn't have a memory card to switch from disk one to disk two :( ) But now I finally have my chance to go back and beat Metal Gear Solid :)!! This series has to Playstation's best of all time. And not to be a jerk but no this didn't start the series really Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 did, but they dont really matter in America.

  • Snake Eater had to be my favorite in the entire series though because the story was so confusing at first than you found out you were playing Snake's father and not Solid Snake that really was an impressive idea. Plus I liked the jungle setting.

  • i must admit to you all i have never played any in this series. when 4 came out i was somewhat....intruiged and i liked the demo. but of all my psx background i NEVER played these games id see them at the shop and not even wonder about them....sooo having said that , i have some questions:
    1.wtf is with the weird code names? what happen to james , james bond or billie or the other real names? dont get me wrong snake is a cool name but...
    2. qsycho mantis? wtf? am i playing a shooter or is this pokemon?
    3. When did the series lose its potential and start going into the scifi stargate sg1 bullshit like in mgs4? I really liked the premise of 4 but it was just too mysterious you know. like "hmmm that looks interesting but i dont wanna bet my money on it" know what i mean?
